I think Americans overstimate, how well known Benjamin Franklin actually is - outside of the US. I am sure, more people would know George Washington or Abraham Lincoln.

Im from South Africa. I would've gone for Lincoln and Washington.
I've never owned dogs. Im planning to have one. For my first pet ever, I'd love to name them Lincoln or Washington. Or Kennedy. Because I revere them. And becoz pets are so loving, Id like to give them good names. Especially Lincoln. I revere him SO SO MUCH! I know about Benjamin Franklin....I didnt realise he was so popular? I dont know too much about him, to be honest. I GREATLY admire Lincoln. Best American president!

Here in Japan most people never heard of him. And in Europe most people only heard the name but don't know anything about him. There are probably hundreds of people who are more famous than him outside of the US. Michael Jackson, Obama, Donald trump etc.
