Hello everyone, today we`re going to look at how can you structure a business presentation. Firstly, I`m gonna walk you through the whole structure of a typical business presentation. Along with it, you will learn some functional expressions which will help you to speak fluently and perform better in your next business presentation.

I`m sure you`d agree with me that the introduction to a presentation is a very important - is perhaps the most significant part of the presentation. Because this is the first impression your audience have of you. So that`s why you should focus on getting your introduction right.?Up to now, you should use the introduction to achieve the following goals:

Number1: welcome your audience

Number2: introduce your subject, your topic of today`s presentation

Number 3 is to outline the structure of your presentation,

And Number 4 to give instructions about questions

Okay?

?Now let’s look at some useful language expressions you could use for the four parts of an introduction.

First, ‘Welcoming your audience’:

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen

Good morning, gentlemen

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen

Good afternoon, everybody

Second, ‘Introducing your subject’:

I am going to talk today about...

The purpose of my presentation is to introduce our new range of.....

Then the third part is ‘Outlining the structure of your presentation’, in this section, you are about to give a brief introduction to your audience , so you can say:

To start with, I'll describe the progress made this year. Then I'll mention some of the problems we've encountered and how we overcame them. After that I'll consider the possibilities for further growth next year. Finally, I'll summarize my presentation before concluding with some recommendations.

In the final part, you are going to ‘Give instructions about questions’, so you can try some of these expressions:

Do feel free to interrupt me if you have any questions.

I'll try to answer all of your questions after the presentation.

I plan to keep some time for questions after the presentation.

And now it`s the time to wrap up your presentation.

Here`s the thing, audiences tend to remember best what they heard last! Okay? So what you need is an effective conclusion, which will help your listeners to quickly recollect your main ideas, and also set the stage for a discussion on the topic you have covered.

That`s why you should find a way to highlight the main points you`ve presented during your presentation. So how can you end your presentation effectively? Here are some points to keep in mind:

Number 1:

Always provide a brief summary of your main points (no more than two to three sentences).

Number 2:

Include recommendations for further research or exploration if possible.

Number 3 is to End by checking with your audience if they need clarifications, or if they have any comments or questions.

Now let`s look at the 4 stages to the wrap up:

Stage number 1: To Sum up your presentation, you can use the following expressions:

Let me quickly summarize the principal points:

I'd like to quickly go over the main points of today's topic:

Before we end, let me briefly recap what we have discussed here today.

I'd like to recap the main points of my presentation

????- First I covered

????- Then we talked about

????- Finally we looked at

I'd now like to sum up the main points which were:

Today we have shown you ...

To sum up then ...

So, as we've seen in this presentation today, ...

As we've explained, ...

Stage number 2 is to give recommendations or conclusions if appropriate, so in this part, you can say:

In conclusion, my recommendations are...

I therefore suggest/propose/recommend the following strategy…

I'm going to conclude by... saying that/inviting you to/ quoting ...

In conclusion, let me... leave you with this thought/invite you to

I'd like to conclude by -ing ...

I'd like to finish by –ing ...

In conclusion ...

Finally ...

In the end, you need to thank your audience and invite questions, so you can try some of these following expressions, for which you may find very helpful

Now I'd like to invite any questions you may have.

Thank you. If there are any questions, we shall do our best to answer them.

If you have any questions, we'd be pleased to answer them.

I'd (we'd) be happy to answer any questions.

I (we) would welcome any comments / suggestions.

That's a very interesting question.

I'd like to pass that question on to Maria.

I think Maria would be in the best position to answer that question.

Have I answered your question?

I'm sorry, we can't answer that question just now, because…

On behalf of the team, I'd like to thank you very much for your interest in our presentation.

Finally, I'll be happy to answer your questions.?

Thank you very much for your attention.

I think that's about it. I'd like to thank you all for coming in today.

Do you have any questions?

Thank you all very much for taking the time to listen to this presentation.

Now, if you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

Now you are going to listen and experience an authentic business presentation drill, in which you`re supposed to intensively get involved, so that you can actually learn and apply them on your day-to-day basis at work. Alright. Here we go:

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Bilton Oaks, my name is Paula Robinson, and I’m here to explain to you a little more about the town of Bilton Oaks which you’ve just had the chance to see on your bus tour, and to give you some more information about locating your business here. There are lots of advantages in moving to Bilton Oaks, and I’m going to talk to you now for about five minutes, about how your move here can be good for your business. There are three main advantages in Bilton Oaks, first of all its location, its good communications, and its local population, who are ready and willing to help your business. At the end of the presentation I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have about the town.

?

First of all Bilton Oaks is unique in that it’s a new town, built to be self-sustaining, so that there are jobs, houses and facilities here.. It’s located halfway between London and Birmingham, which is very convenient because you can reach eighty percent of England within two hours by car. Going through the middle of Bilton Oaks is the London to Birmingham railway line. You can commute from Bilton Oaks to central London in thirty five minutes. Also the M15 motorway and the A22 give good communications north and south.

?

The town itself, has good internal communications. It’s set out on a grid of residential and industrial squares, about one kilometre on a side.

?

There are communication cables for telecoms, cable TV, microwave transmissions, your gas, your electric and everything else that a modern town needs, all in these one kilometre grids. The development in Bilton Oaks is very low density, and you’ll see from the grid that all traffic moves in all directions at all times, so you won’t find any traffic jams in Bilton Oaks.

?

We’re a very adaptable community. At the moment there are about a hundred and ten thousand people who live in the town, and we’re due to grow to about one hundred and fifty thousand in about ten years time. Over half of the people here are younger than thirty five, a quarter are under fifteen, and only thirteen percent are over sixty. This means that we have a young and vibrant work force, who are very adaptable and well trained to meet the needs of your company.

?

The local economy is made up of about two and a half thousand companies. Average company size is twenty five employees, and almost two thirds of all companies still have ten or fewer employees. This means this is the home of the small to medium-sized enterprise.

?

Unemployment is only two and a half percent, and in the last year over three thousand new jobs were created. So you can see that in terms of your supplier network, your ability to meet other companies in the same type of field, and also your ability to get out to your customers, are all enhanced by moving your company to Bilton Oaks.

?

So what’s still left to do? Over the next ten years, we hope that Bilton Oaks town will be completed. The town centre still has lots to do. There’ll be more offices to come, a theatre to be built, more leisure facilities, all suitable to meet the needs of a growing population. There are over two hundred hectares of land still to be developed, so we’ve got a site that will be suitable for you, room for over twenty thousand jobs. We’ve also got plenty of land for housing. Over eight thousand houses can still be accommodated inside the town boundary.

?

In conclusion, just in terms of the location half way between London and Birmingham, good communications, dual carriageway roads, and our population and economy, you can see that it’ll be good for your company to make your home in Bilton Oaks.

?

Thanks very much for listening, and I’m ready to take any questions you might have.

?

Alright, guys. That’s all for today. Please remember, I always welcome questions, I love questions. So if you have any questions, please leave them on the comment below.
