Airi Pan 38-39 Foolproof Photobashing

?38 Lesson 6 - Foolproof Photobashing Part 6 - Recap
P38 - 00:01復(fù)盤。?
?In this module, we basically did zero lecture and all purely demonstration, because we've come to the point where essentially everything that we've learned so far is now applicable.?
And everything else is literally just an iteration of what we've learned so far.?
So for example, we started off with our piece starting from the base that we had on our previous model,?
and we made it understandable using depth and atmosphere by applying the appropriate black and white values.?
We separated out the foreground from the middle ground, from the background.?
Everything that is far away. We made it lighter. Everything that was very close, we made it darker.?
And that little fact alone made it feel as if our peace had depth as if it had atmosphere.?
That's what makes it have the quality of you being able to reach into the screen and feel like you're almost there.?
After that we'll look at different movie screen shots on how we can colorize our piece to look like it came from the scene of a movie.?
Then using multiply layers, we were able to achieve a very similar color palette。?
and went in with tweaks and adjustments, some coloring here and there and going on and so forth.?
Every single time, we pretty much use the lighten layer, the darken layer, some form of paint over layer on Top.?
And then a variety of layers such as overlay, soft light, colored dodge.?
Next we tackled a completely different color scheme, snow in sunset time this time, and now it is completely pink.?
We did the exact same method as we did in our previous green whitish snow piece where we colored our snow using the multiply layer, as well as colored our darks.?
This time. However, one key difference is that we took a completely new a different sky and replace the sky with it.?
And then we also use that same sky to make a reflection on the water.?
But everything else is pretty much the same thing that happened with the previous pieces.?
We did lighten, we did darken. We used multiply layers, we use overlay, we use soft light, a whole bunch of clipping masks and just a smidgen of paint over on the Top at the very end.?
And we look at it and it's finished piece. It looks very similar to our original reference image. ?
So now we take it to the next level, the final level, where now we completely turn the piece on its head and do a nighttime scene.?
Again, we start with a reference image. And again, as previously, we color our snow into a light, except this time we color the snow light, which is going to be an orange color.?
And then we color the snow dark into its dark blue color. But we completely wash over the snow with that dark blue,?
because now pretty much the entire piece is in shadow and only a certain select few areas are really in light.?
And now we cannot use our previous black and white colors that we did for the other two pieces because the light source has completely changed.?
Rather than coming from the sun. Our light source now comes from windows.?
So we have to adjust accordingly by making our house, which is the source of the light, this time, extremely bright, and the rest of the snow extremely dark.?
We also did a flip where instead of having a focal point be little red riding hood, our focal point is now the house because of the fact that the windows there offers such a strong contrast. ?
Because the brightest thing on the entire canvas. So if you look at it, your eye goes straight to the house. This is a very key, important concept.?
Whatever you do in your piece, you should ask yourself what your focal point really is. And try to draw the viewers eye to that specific focal point.?
You can have multiple focal points, but one focal point should be the absolute stinger, the one that everyone should be looking at, the main one that we see first. So in our white greenish concept piece, the focal point was a little red.?
And in our sunset peak concept piece. The focal point was still little red. But in our night time scene, the focal point has now changed to our house and not little red anymore. Another key aspect is that when you turn the piece into black and white, you'll notice that it's still very clear and understandable.?
This is the telltale sign of a good piece. If you turn your piece into black and white and you're not able to really see what the different layers are, you can't really tell the atmosphere. You can't tell what's foreground, mid ground and background. Something is wrong. You should probably go back in and do a little bit adjustments,?
because a good piece will always be very understandable in black and white as well. Now you have three completely different pieces. They are all high quality, high fidelity and very accurate because we used, first of all reference images. We did not just pull these completely from imagination, though we did do some adjustments at the very end to make the piece our own.?
And these pieces completely thrive on their own, even though they are sister pieces because they're all the same thing. They can be completely separate from each other because they show completely different times a day, with different types of shadows, with different light sources at different focal points. ?
You saw firsthand just how simple it is to be able to change your neutral lighting piece from one color to the next to the next to the next. In fact, knowing that I did, it's really just now in front of your eyes means that there is an absolute world of possibility out there. There's all kinds of different times of day to try and experiments to be made. So it's your turn. Let's let's the next video and discuss how we can practice some more.?
39 Lesson 6 - Foolproof Photobashing Part 7 - Practice & Improvement P39 - 00:00?
?Your assignment, just like this video, is going to be short and sweet. You're going to take the previous photo stitch piece that you did in a module five. And then I just simply want three or more iterations.?
Just like you saw in this module. I do recommend that you use the original stitch that you did, simply because it will save you time. However, if you're feeling up to the Challenge and want to do more than one stitch or use a completely new stage, go for it. I am all about trying one's best and challenging oneself, though.?
At the bare minimum, I do want at least three different iterations with three very distinct times a day.?
Additionally, one of them should be of an artificial light source, or vice versa. At least one of them should be of a natural light source.?
Essentially, I don't want all of your life sources to be at the same place that will get you to a total of at least three deliverable. Why you’re doing these, I do want you to. To realize that the first few are going to be a bit challenging. ?
But with each one that you do for get easier and easier and easier, if you ever feel confused, if you're ever feeling lost, feel Free to go back into the videos and watch them over and over.?
That's the entire reason why they record it for you. Additionally, I also have all of these PSD files on hand for you to download at any moment. Feel Free to go in and see how I organize my layers.?
Sometimes you just need to see some of those things to be able to understand how you can do it yourself. Because with photo bashing, it is a very technology heavy process. Therefore, feel Free to use the PSD files that are already finished and pick them apart and see how I assembled them so that it may help you to assemble your own.?
This is where all the fun stuff really starts being able to easily do different times of day. There is nothing more rewarding than that. So above all, don't forget have fun. Enjoy yourself. I'll see you soon
